Old Firm In Europe

Just wondering what everyones thought are on how the old firm will get on in Europe this season?

Personally I think the future looks bright with both teams managing to reach the last 16 in the last 2 seasons. Each team has a fair amount of players with European experiance and tthis, I feel can only bode well for all concerned.

I hate to be negative but I can't see either making the last 16 this year. Both have benefited from better co-efficient rankings over the last two seasons. Celtic managed the second pot last year. This year if both get through Celtic would be pot 3 and Rangers pot 4. We'd have to be very fortunate in the draw.

Personally i dont like the seeding system.

Throw all the names in a hat like the FA and Scottish cups is what id prefer.
Fairer too.

Agreed. Look at the magic you get with the FA Cup. Yes there are some great matches in the CL seems to have the same teams get to the final stages all the time. It's too predictable in some ways.

Yeah the CL is like the ugly face of capitalism!!Designed so the big rich clubs earn the money, whilst they hope the wee clubs are gone before the group stage.

Is one countries 4th place team more worthy of a place than another ones champions???

The title champions league is a lie!!

And also you get teams like Liverpool who focus their whole season on it and then claim to be the best team in Europe on the basis of a few matches. A true league system is the only way to decide something although you do get some great matches in the CL

To be fair Barcelona Chelsea has always lived up to expectations, Man Utd Real Madrid a few years back was a great match.

Once you get to the last 16 the majority of matches are exciting, as I said before its the ones where you've got Man Utd player some unheard of team taht are like watching paint dry.

I went to see Chelsea v. Moscow a few years back and Chelsea hardly turned up and still got a 2-0 win, it was one of the dullest matches I've ever watched, and I've had season ticket at Brentford for 3 years so that's saying something. There was no atmosphere either, all through the match the chelsea fans were outsung by the russians.

Never watched the match but when Liverpool went to Juventus with a 2-1 lead, it must have been the dullest match. No prizes for guessing/remembering final score...

it would be better back to the old way. just a knock out from start to finish. it has been all about money from when it changed to a league format. the bigger the team the bigger the money. its just bollocks
