    M Owen

I find it shocking how he got selected for the England squad when he hadn't scored a leauge goal in over four months before today.

I find it shocking that a referee can disallow a perfectly good goal for a so called foul on the goalkeeper. Now that really is shocking.

This isn't an "I find it shocking.." thread. It's a thread about M Owen and the England squad.

Owen cant not be selected fair enough he aint scored for four months for newcastle but the service he's received has been very poor he's nto about creating chances he just finishes them, people create more for him when he's playing for england and he's always likely to score

theres no doubting his quality as a player. he has just had very terrible luck with injuries. he should definitely be in the squad.

he has a bad rash of injuries and could still be a quality player. However, he became a great striker (prior to injuries) due to his pace and he doesn't have it any more. This is why he hasn't scored that much this season (up to two). I thought Capello would have not called him up but I was wrong. Either he is good enough or he is the worst of the best available

Few would argue that a combination of youth and experience is good in a team. Owen is only 28 and has a wealth of experience as an England striker. Perhaps not now but in his day he was world class and he still possesses the ability of a top class striker. Alan Shearer went through a bad patch too, remember? Owen is still good enough to play for England.
