Cappello off to a bad start?

He will be for me & many others if he picks Bentley in his first side.
He should never be considered for his country after letting down the U21's last year.

thats like saying if a player pulls out of his reserve side because he was knackered he should never play for the first team

When he shunned the England U-21’S, I believe he said it was because he wanted to play less football which I found rather strange at the time. He’s playing well for Blackburn at the moment and maybe the fact that he can play in differnet positions across the midfield, is one reason why Capello has selected him.

Maybe he's grown up a bit and seen the error of his ways, if he's on form perhaps he should be given a second chance.

so if you had a player (for the sake of example) playing reserve football who says they're too knackered for the youth team you wouldn't want them to be given the chance?

    Too Knackered?? No I wouldn't!!!!!!!
Nobody has ever played at the top level without playing youth football first.

but they've made it to the reserves, that then takes precedence surely, so if they play for them (and the youth team) and get knackered (young players tire quicker) why would you be against them then resting afew weeks?

Young players have to be monitered over how much football that they play! If they can't handle the demands of a very modest amount of football they are allowed to play in then there is no way they will make it to the top anyway!

young players often play twice the amount of games as they will for the first team- they will get knackered out, why should that stop them being considered?

the only player who can answer that is bentley himself- honestly i'm 50/50 as to whether he was, but everyone deserves a second chance and it was the under-21's not the full team. if he did it for the full team then it'd have to be considered, if it happened twice for the full team, then that'd have to be it

David Bentley was nearly 23 when the U21 Tournament that he was "Too Tired For" took place he was one of the over age players!
So if England qualify for The 2010 World Cup in South Africa what makes you think he would be up for a far more demanding tournament at the Ripe old age of 25 ??????
