Was the mess run ashore today but I didn’t go, they have all gone dressed up as hooters girls for some strange reason, but i’m sticking to this strict fitness and carefull eating ragime and other than saving on calories, i’m saving a bit in my pocket too.
Went for another run today in torrential rain, I actually enjoyed it more running in the cold and the rain than I did on monday when it was cold and sunny. Another 2.89 miles run, the same as monday. Gonna try and go for another run tomorrow if i’ve got the energy, I must be only taking in 1500 calories per day + the exercise so hopefully I will see some results on the scales a week on Friday.
Right i’m going to bed

Well yesterday (Monday) was a good day, didn’t eat any rubbish other than a couple of chocolate bars. I also went for a run during my lunch break. Didn’t get any temptations to eat on the evening also and I turned down the chance to go out.
Today i’ve again not ate any rubbish other than a bag of crisps and half a drifter. Had a tomato cup”a”soup an hour ago and i’m going to have some chicken noodles for my evening meal whilst watching the Manchester United v Tottenham match. I’m duty onboard today so can’t leave the ship.
I’ll post another update in a few days. My run is on my gps watch but can’t update at the moment.
I’ve not done anything since I’ve been off other than walking the dog. I’m getting my heart rate monitor back and i’m planning on running 4 miles every other day and dramtically cutting down on the fast food i’ve been eating. Its like a circle, i’m going round and around, saying i’m starting again and then failing, then starting again. 15st 6lbs is what I weigh at the moment and the 3 months i’ve been off my ship, the people noticed i’ve put weight on and they constantly let me know about it lol.
So starting Monday, i’m going to try to stop eating rubbish fatty foods. Not completely stop, might have a pizza at the weekend.
I really needed motivated to go for my run today, the weather was nice but I had no energy and was very tired. As soon as I came back from work I just got my uniform off and put on my running clothes and left the cabin. Drove to Southsea and carried on with my, what now is a regular run along the sea front. I updated my data from the run to the garmin connect so you can have a look if you wish to do so.
Was an easier run today, maybe the 4 day break from running did me good. My back starting aching much later and then towards the end of the run stopped aching so hopefully this is going to be a good trend with the aching eventually ceasing altogether. The only other problems I had was a few stitches and my shins where sore, I’m putting that down to me not being used to running. I used to suffer from shin spints a few years ago but they went away, I just hope they don’t get any worse.
Anyway last week I lost 0.5kg so that was a good sign, I plan to lose more this week than last week, aiming at 1-2kg per week. I’m off work next week and the following week as i’m taking my xmas leave early due to me doing xmas duties on the ship. Anyway i’ll update the blog again tomorrow after another run along the sea front.

Well hopefully I can keep this up and my legs and lower back will get stronger. My shins where hurting on today’s jog at the beginning, towards the end it was comfortable but tiredness was kicking in but I managed to run for the whole 4 miles then walk the rest back to my car. Its enjoyable knowing that its good for me and hopefully i’ll start to lose the weight. I’ve cut down on the crap that i’ve been eating, only had 1 pizza so far this week. Pizzas and Parmos are my biggest let down and I usually have one of each, every weekend than i’m home.
But i’m happy with myself at the moment, not going to be running tomorrow as i’m driving back up to Middlesbrough from Portsmouth, but hopefully I can do a bit of running around Middlesbrough this weekend. I’m weighing myself on Sunday morning so hopefully I have a lost some weight. It will probably take a bit of time to lose the weight but each one of the runs, my Garmin Forerunner has said i’ve burned 600+ calories which i’m really happy about, and i’m hoping to start seeing the effects of this running in the weeks to come.

ps, my run will be added to Garmin Connect soon
Hi,
Thats two 4 mile jogs completed one yesterday and one today. You feel great after you work out also. My problem before was I was running to quickly and that in turn was not enjoyable, it is more enjoyable running at a slow pace (jogging). Today I was running in heavy rain and it was blowing a gale BUT I enjoyed it more that I did yesterday. My shins where hurting a little bit but my back felt better with less aching. I’m looking forward to weighing myself on Sunday, my aim is to have lost 1kg MINIMUM. I was 96kg the last weighing on Sunday just gone so hopefully I can achieve this.
I’ve cut down on the crap that I’m eating, basically having a slim fast shake for breakfast, a sandwich, bag of crisps and chocolate bar for dinner and then another shake for my evening meal, but i find I’m really hungry so I’ve been having a few snacks in between the last mean and going to bed. Off to watch the Football tonight in Walkabout in Portsmouth and having some food before I go there. Not staying out drinking all night, just having a few whilst the games are on, then heading back.
My run for today can by found on my Garmin Page, link is on yesterdays post. Until next time, cya
Hello,
Went for a jog today as this has to get serious now, i put on 1kg during the last week and I hardly ate any fatty food. I ran along the seafront down Southsea and it was bitterly cold, must wear hat and long sleeve shirt with gloves next time lol. Ran 2 miles in agony as my back was aching, which is probably due to the size of my gut these days lol, but ran for 2 miles then walked for just over half a mile and then ran another mile then walked the rest. It was a circular route down the sea front then back up.
Hopefully I can keep myself motivated to do this daily!!

Finally went for a jog this afternoon, just a little 2 mile run but its better than nothing, found a great site which is helping me with keeping an eye out on what i’m eating. The site in question is called fatsecret and you basically log all the food you have eaten, it works out how many calories you need to eat to maintain your weight and how many you need to lower your weight. I need 2300 to lower my weight and today i’ve eater 1700 which is great. I’ve burned off 2700 with the walking and running I’ve been doing so all in all if I can stick to this then i’ll start seeing results in a week.
Will post an update in a few days time.
Well didn’t do much running last week, the weather was awful and tbh I wasn’t in the mood, but I really need to get out of this habbit of eating and drinking as personally I think i’ll end up having a heart attack, my goal is to drop from 15st to 13st. Going to start on Tuesday with a long but light jog, possible walking at some points as my back will be hurting, will be wearing my Garmin watch but with no heartrate monitor as i’ve misplaced it.
I recorded my blood pressure today and its high!!! Probably caused from the drink last night. Been going throgh half a bottle of vodka on weekend nights which isn’t good!!! Thats a 1 litre bottle of vodka also. My blood pressure was 142/88 both readings are high and I really need to get that lower and to do that i’m going to have to cut down on the shit i’m eating, stop the drinking and do exercise.
I’m just finding it hard to get motivated and i’m always saying to myself, ill start tomorrow, one last takeaway won’t hurt. But its a viscous circle and I need to break out of it before its too late. I’ve set up a page at fatsecret and i’m going to be writing what i eat each day and it will be easy as they have a mobile application which you can enter the food manually of get the info by taking a photo of the barcode and grabbing the info from the online database.
Anyway this is it, I REALLY need to start this now, actually, I’m going to go for a run tomorrow morning around Middlesbrough. I’ll do the run and then upload the data onto the garmin connect website for everyone to see
.
Well i’m back in portsmouth now, my ship is at sea but i’ve been downgraded due to my broken hand. So i’m shore side for another month. I have been for 2 runs this week, both the same run but second time my back was really aching so i had to stop a few times as it was killing me. I’ve also not been eating as much even though I have been pretty bored sitting around doing nothing lol. But i don’t have food all around me like i do when i’m at home. I’m back home tomorrow i’m just hoping I don’t start eating loads over this weekend. Back to work on Sunday night again
back to Portsmouth.
I will upload the runs this weekend and i’ll weigh myself and add a new photo.
