Manchester United after Roberto Firmino and Mats Hummels

Recommended Posts

Manchester United have agreed an £18.6million deal with Hoffenheim to sign playmaker Roberto Firmino, according to reports in Italy.

The Brazilian, who scored the winner in last weekend's Emirates friendly against Brazil, has been watched by Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool throughout the season.

But they all look set to miss out as Louis van Gaal appears to have won the race for his signature.

Manchester United are closing in on Mats Hummels.

The Borussia Dortmund defender is understood to have told his Germany teammates during the international break that a summer move to Old Trafford is on the verge of being agreed.

A source close to the Germany camp said: “He is preparing his exit and he gave some of the players signs that his transfer is close.”

Experienced centre-back Hummels is likely to cost around £35m and a move to United would see boss Louis van Gaal land his No1 defensive target.

Hummels, 26, went public on his future this week, hinting he was keen on a move abroad, and his comments have been widely interpreted as his attempt to prepare Dortmund and their fans for his departure.

Firmino is a special player, similar to Oscar at Chelsea
