New (Sin bin) Blue Card to be trialled in FA Cup

According to The Telegraph, the revolutionary move will be announced by International Football Association Board on Friday as part of new measures that will see players removed from play for 10 minutes if they commit a cynical foul or show dissent towards a match official.

The protocols will add a new wrinkle to dismissals as players would now be sent off if they receive two blue cards in a game or a combination of a blue and a yellow.

Sounds ridiculous, just keep it yellow and red, maybe have the yellow as a sin bin like in rugby!

Don't think they need an extra colour.

Don’t think the sun bin will work as it stands from what I have heard the keepers are not included so you have players on the park working to different rules which is really stupid also in rugby there are natural stoppage's just think it’s been badly thought out and to be honest get VAR working properly before changing something as fundamental

More interference being proposed from the authorities. Can they just stop with their constant interference....VAR, handballs, linesmen not flagging straight away for offsides due to some fucking phase of play fucking rule, offsides given for fucking bawhair decisions (hopefully altered on the proposal by Arsene Wenger (now THAT would be worthwhile but it would really only be going back to what it was). Fuck off and do something useful like shutting the fuck up...

I see FIFA have denied that the Blue Card will be used in major competitions for now. Calling the reports premature and wrong

There will be no blue card for the moment in official competitions. FIFA wanted to make it clear that these reports that point to the application of the same at elite levels of football are "incorrect".

However, the world governing body has assured that in case of approval, it should be limited to "testing in a responsible manner at lower levels". This is the position of the body, which said the issue will be discussed at the International Football Association Board's General Assembly on 2 March.

"FIFA wishes to clarify that reports of the so-called 'blue card' at elite levels of football are incorrect and premature. Any such trials, if implemented, should be limited to testing in a responsible manner at lower levels, a position that FIFA intends to reiterate when this agenda item is discussed at the IFAB AGM on 2 March," it wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

In this way, FIFA has responded to reports, which suggested that the IFAB had approved the use of a new blue card, which would begin to be used from next summer in lower level competitions.

In addition, the source said that the new card would be implemented gradually in the professional categories and that the FA itself had offered to implement it for both the Men's and Women's FA Cup next season.

Listening to Off the Ball on Radio Scotland...Tam Cowan is discussing this blue card shite with some bint....not a clue who she is. Tam asks what her thoughts on it were...It would be fun, it would be interesting she says. So there you have the in depth thought processing on what was proposed to be an other intrusion into the rules of football...'It would be fun, it would be interesting'....Jesus fucking Christ....someone show her the way to the ironing board!

Although the blue card idea has been dropped, the sin bin is still on the table.

The current practice of dismissals (including sin bins) also penalises a team and often ruins the game.
Might be more effective if the offending players were immediately substituted and given a severe financial penalty and a ban.

Nah if it’s a straight red for violent play there can’t be a sub used that imo would me a backwards move. They need to get other rules defined properly as to many are open to one person’s interpretation before moving on to other things

why the fuck don't these fucking useless fucking plebs just fuck off and make life simpler. They've made the rules of the game far too complex with their interference in an attempt to make themselves look important. WE don't need them!
