Chelsea v Man Utd

Recommended Posts

Chelsea humped Man Utd 4-0 today and showed a massive gulf in class between themselves and Utd.

Is Jose in trouble already?

Well he has spent a fortune at Man Utd and they looked like a mid table team today.

Personally i think he is finished.

Sore one to take i expected it to be tight like what Man united managed to do to liverpool a week or so ago. From what i seen this year i think United will struggle to get champions league football which might not be enough to save his Job considering the players and the money that's been spent at the club.

Major issues at United which I'm going to highlight below.

1. Centre back pairing, Bailly is still in his development stage for us and Smalling can be a complete liability at times, major investment is needed in this area with Smalling the man to miss out for me, he had a fantastic season under Van Gaal but I've always felt he lacks something from being a true top class defender.

Personally, for me I'd go for Van Dijk, his stock is rising fast and he will no doubt end up at top club sooner rather than later.

2. Full backs, one converted winger and a young lad who clearly has fitness issues, Valencia is performing out of his skin but if you want to be a top club you've gotta have specialist players in each position. Shaw on the other hand was sorted out by Van Gaal before is injury, clearly overweight he's always going to have injuries and struggle with the pace of football at the top level. Van Gaal noticed the weight issue and sorted it out, Mourinho hasn't seemed to have picked up on it yet.

3. Midfield, were fully stacked out in the position yet we're only really seeing three playing regular, Pogba is trying far too hard to impress at times and is overplaying the simple stuff. Herrera is a decent player but short of the class to be a regular in a title winning side, Fellaini on the other hand, is a complete joke and has managed four seasons without deserving his place at a top club.

We needed a Kante to play alongside Pogba, someone who's going to allow him the freedom to express himself.

4. Wingers, Martial and Mkhitaryn aside (remember him) I don't think any of our wingers are of the level needed, Depay is a joke, Mata lacks the pace to play on the wing and in the ten role and Lingard is nothing more than a squad player. All are terrible at tracking back which leaves the full backs totally exposed.

5. Strikers, we've currently got two over the hill players, one in Rooney who's decline has been all to see, the other was brought in during the summer and is now having a huge negative effect on our team, Ibra is two static and slows everything around him down. I thought this was a good move during the summer but now feel we've a huge mistake.

Rashford, he can't get a kick as a striker, which has seen a slight dip in form as he's being over used and played out of position.

All in all we're in a mess, Jose doesn't seem to be showing the passion from his youthful days and I can't even remember a time I've seen him smile since he signed his deal with the club.

Heard on the radio yesterday that Mourinho's stats per game match exactly to the goal scored and conceded as David Moyes at this point in his employment.

How kind/cruel the media and supporters can be!

The media will not hound Mourinho out of his job as he is Mr Soundbite for them.

The Man U supporters won't hound him out of his position because it must feel like the last chance saloon for them.

So much the saviour of United.

Does this prove anything, such as you can't buy guaranteed success?

You can't just blame the manager though, the players and his scouts are all to blame too.

In fairness Mourinho is having to deal with a mountain of average players bought and put on mega salaries, I'm pretty certain the likes of Rojo and Schweinsteiger were offered out during the summer and knocked back because of their insane wage demands.

United's biggest problem is that we're so obsessed with keeping the global brand at the top of the tree, we're panic buying and grabbing players that sell shirts rather than football matches. Falcao, Schweinsteiger and Ibra have all come in with little thought other than selling shirts, how can you build foundations on over the hill players.

It's about time the fans got real as well, we're no longer the force we was, we're now in a position to give a manager the time to build with the future in mind. Buying instant success isn't working, we've got be sensible and accept this could take a number of years to get the club back in shape.

Unfortunately as I highlighted above that's not going to happen as the brand demands high profile players.
