I bet the owners are kicking themselves now. Serves them right.

Fair one, they looked doomed now.

Is it me or is Rowett coming across as someone who jumps ship very easily?

Couldn't get Derby promoted so goes to Stoke? Why? Pay rise by any chance?

Left Burton too.

I am no longer a fan of him. Personally I think he encouraged QPR to tap him up leading to his dismissal at Brum.

Just like any normal person then, if I was going to get a pay rise I'd move ship too.

Is he doing himself any favours in the long run though?

Successful managers usually prove themselves at a club building the team and winning things. Not by moving sideways for a few quid more.

Potential employers will be noting all of this.

Also, he would expect loyalty from his players and his employer. It is a two way thing.

Money, although important, isn't everything & I'm talking solely in a footballing sense. There have been numerous players up here who have shone, transferred down south primarily for the huge rise in wages but failed to make it.....little game time, so after a period they have to return for hopefully a better chance of actually playing week in week out but obviously they have to take a large drop in wages. Prime example....Jason Cummings.....played great for Hibs.....went to Forest & obviously got a huge hike in wages but fell out of favour so came to Rangers on a loan (I don't know if Gers pay or Forest or both pay part of his salary during this time) but if he is signed on a permanent deal it will be for wages a lot less than Forest were paying him. Managers are different in the sense that they are involved every week but I agree with the previous post by Locke regards this.

Basically, all Rowett is doing is running as soon as a little heat is applied.

Except in the Birmingham case where he got rumbled and the club acted swiftly.

In my eyes all he is doing is becoming a journey man manager like Pulis, Lambert, Bruce, Alardyce, McClaren. He will never be out of work, but likewise won't win anything either.

His great young manager tag is tainted.

I'd agree with this

Seems to move around the Midlands quite a bit

Did they lose today, I've not looked?

Yes they did... To Garry Monk and Birmingham.

Stoke have had a slow start. Birmingham are unbeaten in ten games and climbing the table.

Gary Rowett has been sacked by Stoke today.

His career really has gone pear shaped.

At one time I really rated him, though I now think he struggles to deliver under pressure.

He is not the great young manager I thought he was.

There are a few other factors that come into it though:

  1. Available money to spend on players
  2. Players actually performing, their commitment
  3. Fans support

He could join a team and get all the money in the world and get the players that work well together and want to perform.

Look at United, the players clearly didn't like Mourinho and suddenly they are winning games again. The players must take some shit for these sackings!! They clearly don't perform to their ability all of the time.
