Basic simple food.

Recommended Posts

Yesterday Mrs sa asked me what I wanted for tea, I said fry up, she wasn't happy with the bacon, so it ended up egg on toast.

Just had a bowl of Heinz tomato soup, with a baguette, (one of those half cooked finish at home jobs).

Have to say, I enjoyed both so much, simple basic food. Such a nice change from takeaways and pub meals.

Do you enjoy the simple stuff sometimes?

Yes, usually when I get back from driving home from Portsmouth / Faslane, the missus just cooks some pasta then makes her own tomato sauce with tomato puree, a little bit of garlic and sometimes some onions in it. Very nice. Tomato soup with warm bread is like the best thing in the world!

I usually have the simplest food if and when I cook in the house, got no time and generally can't be bothered making a complicated dish. Just give me a simple chicken dish.

Chicken chopped up, browned in a pot with some spices and a sauce. Served with pasta.

Delicious or a simple sandwich would do me.

Can't beat abit of cheesy beans on toast. Had that many times late at night when I've finished work and can't be bothered cooking or getting a takeaway.

Or if I'm feeling adventurous, spaghetti cheese on toast

I'm very easy to please with regards to grub. Tea/dinner - Pie, beans, chips or mince round, beans, chips. Breaded haddock (angel cut slice which are huge), peas, chips. Mince and baked potatoes, bolognese mince with pasta twirls. Occasional pepperoni pizza. Had roast pork, roast tatties & peas last night and having the rest of it with chips & beans tonight. Saturday or Sunday morning is normally a fry up. Healthy as fuck, me     :)

Fair one you need to do chips.

Can someone please try these chips, they are slimming world chips but don't let that put you off. They take about 50 mins to do.

1. Boil a pan of water and chop up 3 -4 potatoes depending how many chips you want.

2. Put the cut chips into the pan and boil for 8-10 mins

3. Empty water from pan and leave part cooked chips in the pan for 10 mins (Make sure they don't stick to the pan)

4. With the pan and chips in it, put a lid  on the pan and shake for 5-10 seconds until the chips become fluffy

5. Put chips onto overtray on some grease proof paper,  spray oil on them and season however you like.

6. Put into a pre-heated over set to 220*c (Fan Oven) and set a timer for 15 mins

7. Once 15 mins are up turn the chips over and put back in for 15 mins.

8. Enjoy the best overn chips in the world! I don't buy chips anymore, I just make these now!

traditionalist when it comes to chips mate. Tatties peeled and chipped then stuck into the chip pan using only the finest Tesco lard. Only had oven chips once in my life when I 'had' to reduce my fat intake while waiting to get my gall bladder out.
