Starter or Dessert.

Recommended Posts

If your going out for a meal which do you go for if your only going to have 2 courses.

I'm fully into a starter me. Love them.

The Wife/Daughter/Granddaughter  always give them a miss and go for the pudding option.

I'm not saying I'm right, although all on here know I am......

But what do you prefer?

I think i'm more of a  savoury guy as  puddings tend to put me off my beer, a little bit.

I'm off to Bistrot Pierre this Saturday and I can't wait.

https://bistrotpierre.co.uk/menus/a-la-carte-2

Not sure what I'm going to get, something healthy-ish like steak probably. But then i'm going to get dessert, a lovely Sticky Toffee Pudding :)

We usually do the full 3-course meals when we go out but where slimming. We've decided to eat out or have a date night once a month as we've not been doing anything recently.

So no started for me, even though I want one!

I also usually find that after a starter, main course  sides, no room for a dessert. Well not if i want room for more beer.

starter but nowadays normally just have a mains.

To be honest that is me too Harold.

Very occasionally I might have a starter if it is Indian food.

So do you usually have a starter or very occasionally? Very confusing

Everything I have said is perfectly clear.

Very occasionally have a starter usually with Indian food.

Now let us move on...

I guess it kind of varies on where I go to be honest.

Pub : Usually just a straight main course and a couple of beers for starters and a malt for dessert.

Restaurant : Typically a starter if anything tickles my fancy and a main course.

Fine dining restaurant : Usually I would opt for their tasting course menu if the place has them, so usually 5 or 7 small courses just to taste the different techniques and styles of cooking the establishment has.

I guess the fine dining one is to give yourself more tips and ideas for your own cooking?

If its a pub I just get main course.

Restaurant, i get a 2 or 3 course meal. How come you only get a starter? Thats a bit weird. :)
