Manchester United became the first English club to lift the EC

Love them or hate them , this match propelled Man Utd to the limits that many fans deserted their local clubs and decided to follow them instead, some even from hundreds of miles away from Manchester

i remember watching a recording of this final a few years back.
…..Beatle haired Bestie (RIP) at his best , Charlton (2 goals) and Law etc, Brian Kidd scored when he was just in his late teens, but the whole nation seemed very pleased for the likes of Sir Bobby, Busby and Bill Foulkes who had survived the Munich air tragedy 10 years earlier that took the lives of 23 , including 8 very talented and young United players that included Tommy Taylor and the legendary Duncan Edwards

Ex Blues star Johnny Berry had moved to United from SA but never played again after the tragedy

Love this nostalgia, but it was a great game , Benfica had Eusebio playing for them who was arguably the top striker in the world at that time alongside Brazil's Pele and our own Greavsie

Surprisingly they have only won this trophy twice since, both times during the Fergie era
