Celtic may not take fans to Ibrox Old Firm derby over safety concerns

Recommended Posts

There is something sadly wrong in Scottish football.
I'm not sure what the cause is, but back in the day, although the fans were always at each others throats, the clubs and the players did seem to have a modicum of respect for each other.
My impression was/is that it kicked off in the Souness era. That was the first time I ever witnessed Rangers and Celtic players becoming involved in an on field brawl.
Or is there more to it than that? Have I missed something along the way?

Personally think it's an attempt (pretty poor imo) at oneupmanship by Lawwell. There is no way the Police would have given the green light for Celtic fans to attend if any safety concerns could not be taken care of. He is a megalomaniac. Simply a chancer having a pop at Rangers who he detests. Perhaps he should have thought about his own team's fans before the last Old Firm match....
