Scholesy leaves Oldham

Well that was a bit of a waste of time. I'm not really sure why these millionaire ex pros think they might want to muck in the lower leagues but it's not as easy as criticising in a studio.

Living in Manchester I know that club has been a shambles for a fair while. You can't fault him for giving it a go but like Sol Campbell when he signed for Notts County I feel he was expecting more than he got and the reality must have kicked in.

We don't know what went on behind the scenes but I suspect it was a culture shock and he realised it was going to be impossible to get what he wanted out of the players he had.

I think it's funny when ex players turn to management and fail. They think just because they played at the top level, they will be great as a manager. Surely being a manager you need to have good management skills and good people skills. Most footballers don't have these skills.

Yes I agree with this, Scholes has always had issues with dealing with the media in the past and that's why I was surprised when he became a football pundit. He doesn't really have the personality needed to be a manager of a football club some people need to be guided and he's one of those characters.

He's just disclosed on BT that there was interference from above,he was given subtle hints and told directly to not play certain players,i understand why he quit

Oh that makes sense then, you have to be left alone if your managing. Micromanaging is the worst thing in the world.
