This morning I had, what is my Saturday favourite at the moment, two rolls on fried smoky streaky bacon covered with fried cherry toms halved and a custard choux bun. Delish!

I am most disappointed in the streaky bacon we get here in NZ.

Only way to get it crispy is to almost burn it. Not at all like what I was used to in UK and RSA.

no keen on crispy mate.

what about snails ?

Oven roasted with garlic, yummy.

The shells are very hot so you must have a "pince au escargot" (to hold the shell) and a "fourchette au escargot" (to get the little fucker out), some famillies over here have evenings "à l'escargot" when they will eat hundreds of the little things washed down with litres of plonk.

Today I shall be having a couple of buttered rolls on linkers drizzled with broon sauce then a lemon and fresh cream muffin.

We were out this lunchtime in a nearby village buying some stakes for our peas for next year and after doing this I went to the nearby chippy. The wife had a bag of chips whilst I indulged in a King Rib supper and portion (6) of fritters....broon sauce galore. Smashing. Doubt I'll be having a tea tonight.

America is another place with disappointing bacon. Mostly crispy and not good.

However, their steaks and pork chops are top hole!
