Any of you guys have food delivered?

We used Uber Eats tonight as I am pished. Cannot complain. Food was with us from a chippy a mile away really quick. Tasted hot and fresh. £2:50 delivery, so a no brainer really.

Used too before moving out here. No chance of getting anything delivered to my house to remote. Tried a few times, never happened yet.

Fish & Chips later from Uber Eats.

Me and the missus are just cooking from home.

We've made bread yesterday, took fucking ages, over 6 hours before it went in the oven!! It was a dutch oven bread, won't do it again but it was fucking nice!!

I also made Tomato and Red Pepper soup, very nice with the home made bread.

I'm not getting any takeaways as TBH they are mega expensive for what you get, well especially Pizzas.

Mohammed is usually our delivery driver.

Mrs tips him through app. He drops it on step and calls us a couple mins before.

I'm curious......

What's the advantages of an app, rather than phoning take away direct?

Main advantage is that the order is not transmitted verbally so there is little chance of misunderstandings.
This is particularly important here in NZ where the staff in takeaway restaurants are often from different ethnic groups.

Having said that, I really enjoy phoning my local Asian take away just to hear the lady there say "combimation flied lice".   ?

If you phone our chippy they don't deliver.  You can collect or go through a delivery app where you order the food through the app and the driver more often than not is sitting outside ready to deliver.

I think Mrs said it is an extra £2:50.

It really isn't worth me starting car and running there and back.

Most of em do here too.

Most good chip shops have a core of customers (usually white British) who use them on a regular basis so they don't really need to offer collection or delivery services.

In fact pre Covid I would not use a chip shop offering delivery service. A sure sign that business is slow.
