A REALLY EXCITING TEAM TO BE PART OF'

Nemanja Matic told the club's official website: "I am very happy that I will continue to be part of this great club. As a player, I still have a lot more to give and achieve in my career and to do that with Manchester United will be a huge honour.

"This is a really exciting team to be part of, we have a good balance of youth and experience within the squad and there is great comradery amongst the group. This is a key part of the season and we are playing well. We will continue to fight to finish the season on a high and make our amazing supporters proud.”

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “I am delighted that Nemanja has signed a new contract, I know his experience, professionalism and leadership will be invaluable to this young talented group. We have great strength in midfield and Nemanja’s attributes are a key part of that.

"Nemanja has been here for three seasons now and really understands the values of playing for Manchester United.  He remains hugely ambitious and determined which will be vital as we look to achieve our aims over the coming years.”

ORELOS MUST KEEP FOCUSED'

Rangers assistant manager Gary McAllister has stated that Alfredo Morelos needs to stay focused on getting fit and impressing Steven Gerrard amid continued speculation over his future.

He said: “As far as bids, I’m unaware. Bids concerning any footballer, at any football club, every player has a price. Until moments where a bid lands that the club feels it is a number that suits, we just keep moving on.

“Alfredo has got to keep focused and keep fit for those early games in the season.

“He is part of our squad and he’s no different to any other player. He’s under contract here and at this moment of time he is the exact same as everybody else.

“We are trying to get people up to match speed, up to the speed where we can start the season on August 1. That’s it, he is no different

“He has come back with the same attitude of everyone, he is trying to show the manager he is part of the starting XI, like everybody should be. We have quite a big squad and even in this early stage, you have got to be catching the eye of the manager.”

IF Morelos can get his discipline in check he could be a fantastic player for Rangers. Even last season when he started as if he had cut out the pettiness from the previous season, he let it slip on toooo many occasions imo. Cut out the shit Alfredo, play with a smile instead of a scowl and tear the Scottish Premiership apart with your goals..............If he isn't up to that then he should be punted! Wee Defoe aint gonna last forever & we really require another option up front....I've said for long and weary that Lawrence Shankland should be brought into the fold.

CHELSEA FAVOURITES FOR HAVERTZ, BUT £90M TOO MUCH?

Chelsea are the favourites to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen but they are not willing to pay the £90m asking price.

Havertz wants to leave Leverkusen this summer and the German club are prepared to let him go because he has only two years remaining on his contract and they have failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Leverkusen value Havertz at €100m (£90m) but his representatives are hopeful a deal can be structured with bonus payments and add-ons which would satisfy all parties.
